Miss Schulz (Elementary Spanish)
¡Hola y bienviendos al mundo de Español! Yo soy Ashley Schulz (aka Señorita Schulz). I teach Spanish to the young minds of the elementary students at Christian Faith. I started teaching at Christian Faith since mid-March this last school year; where this will be my first full year teaching.
I am from a family of two wonderful and loving parents, one older sister, and now have a brother-in-law! I was born and raised in a Christian home and attended Seattle Christian School in SeaTac from K-12th grade. I attended college at Western Washington University, where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Western Washington University with an emphasis in secondary education. Besides Christian Faith, I have also subbed for Federal Way and at my elementary/high school, and am also currently a teacher at Sylvan Learning Center in Kent.
My passion for the Spanish language began when I first started taking Spanish class at Seattle Christian. Seeing how easy it was for me to learn it, I took the class for all 4 years of high school and continued studying the language in college. Besides taking Spanish classes, I had the privilege of traveling to 2 different cities in Mexico (Tijuana and Agua Prieta) on a couple mission trips with my home church group and my youth group from Western.
When it comes to teaching Spanish, whether it is teaching basic vocab words (colors, shapes, food/meals, places, sports, etc.), verb tenses (past, present, and future), or about the Spanish culture (food, customs, celebrations, etc.), I like to make my lessons fun and creative! I am a creative person, where it is always fun for me to come up with lessons! I believe that every student has the ability to learn something new, including learning a new language. I always like to try to turn the “I can’t do this” to “I can do this” when it comes to learning (¡Sí, se puede!)
Besides teaching, I also enjoy activities like shopping, bowling with friends or family, playing sports like volleyball, and spending time with either my family or with friends around home or in Seattle.
Since my first day at CFS, I truly felt welcomed to this community with open arms by everyone on staff and that it was a calling from God for me to teach at this school. I am blessed that God has given me the opportunity to not only show my passion for teaching, but also my love and passion for Christ. I also feel blessed for the support and appreciation that I have gotten from everyone at CFS since day 1. I hope to continue to grow more in my relationship with Christ as I teach this school year, and to make learning Spanish fun for my students!
